How to avoid a dental emergency.

Except for trauma which may causes a knocked out tooth for example a hockey or rugby field accident. Or a motor vehicle accident, most other dental emergecies can be avoided in 90% off the time, by just visiting your dentist every 6 months and have you checkup done .

During a checkup xrays and a physical exam  will be  done to  determine  if all fillings are  still intact  or needs attention . A good dental  cleaning will be done.

To avoid a fractured restoration or tooth your dentist will give you advice on how to take care of your teeth. especially those with restorations
For example it is not a good idea to chew lots of sticky or toffy like candy if you have large restorations or crowns in your mouth . By this behavour you increase you chanse to fracture a restoration.

Sport injuries  of contact sports can be avoided by wearing a propper fitted sports mouthguard, these mouthguards can be made through a dentist to make sure the fit is comfortable.

Not many people like a visit  to the dentist especially when its an emergency.
For this teason alone one can say prevention is beter than cure rather face your fear and do your regular 6 monthly check ups and decrease the possibility off having to have a emergency dental visit

Look after your teeth and dental health and you will have that perfect smile
